Arlington currently has 18,000 public trees which are cared for by the Natural Resources Division.  On this page are some helpful links about Arlington's tree population and what to do if you suspect a Town tree is diseased or damaged, recommended trees for planting, and other tree related information.

If you would like to request a street tree to be planted on your property you can do so by submitting a Tree Request via the Request/Answer Center (registration required).

For builders, please note Article 16 Tree Protection & Preservation Bylaw to see if you need a tree plan.

The DPW also works with the Arlington Tree Committee.

"The Region's Expert on Native Plants—from the Wild to Your Backyard" 

The Society is based at Garden in the Woods, a renowned native plant botanic garden in Framingham, Massachusetts, that attracts visitors from all over the world. From this base, 25 staff members and more than 700 volunteers work throughout New England to monitor and protect rare and endangered plants, collect and bank seeds for biological diversity, control invasive species, conduct research, and educate the public. 

The Society also operates a native plant nursery at Nasami Farm in western Massachusetts and owns seven native plant sanctuaries in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, six of which are open to the public.

We hope that it will become a national model.”

Since 2010, a cooperative community garden project, run through Arlington's Recreation Departmentat Robbins Farm Park in Arlington, MA. Membership is limited to 20 gardeners and applications close on May 1st. They grow vegetables organically as a group, create an educational resource in the community, and continue the agricultural tradition of the farm at the park.
