Sustainable Arlington acts on the local level to promote climate stabilization and other important environmental goals.  We are a Town of Arlington Environment Committee under Envision Arlington (formerly Vision 2020) and a chapter of the Massachusetts Climate Action Network.  See our yearly project statement in the Town of Arlington Annual Report, under Community Development and Planning,

If you have ideas for ways Arlington can reduce home and Town energy consumption, speed up the switch to renewable energy, or manage Arlington's environmental resources more sustainably, please come to one of our  monthly meetings listed on this website.

Thanks for visiting.

3 ARLINGTON EVENTS: JULY 11 AND 14, 2019

 1. "Dare to Repair!

Stories of preserving treasure and preventing waste"

with True Story Theater

Thursday, July 11, 7:30 - 8:45 pm

Robbins Library, Community Room, Arlington Center

free

Join other members of Arlington and surrounding communities for an evening of entertainment around the theme of what happens next when stuff we use breaks.  Does it have to be thrown out?  Can it be fixed? Who can repair it?   Bring your stories of success, frustration and failure with fixing things and discover the different ways that an improv/playback theater troupe can present them.

RSVP and share on Facebook

 2. Fix-It Clinic

with Sustainable Arlington, Sustainable Belmont, Robbins Library, Arlington Recycles and the Arlington Zero Waste Committee

(tools and repair experience providedby our Fix-It Coachs)

Sunday, July 14, 1-4 pm

Thompson School Gym, 187 Everett St., East Arlington

free

Building resilient communities through conveying basic troubleshooting skills and celebrating repair, Fixit Clinics are do-it-together hands-on fix-n-learn community-based exploration and discovery workshops staffed by volunteer Fixit Coaches who generously share their time, tools and expertise to consult with you on the disassembly, troubleshooting, and repair of items.

So bring your broken, non-functioning things -- electronic gadgets, appliances, computers, toys, sewing machines, bicycles, fabric items, etc.-- for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair. Fixit Coaches (and helpful neighbors) will be available for consultation on broken items: we'll provide workspace, specialty tools, and guidance to help you disassemble and troubleshoot your item. Whether you fix it or not, you'll learn more about how it was manufactured and how it worked, ready to share your new-found confidence and insight with your friends, neighbors, and the community at large. (Hopefully you’ll be inspired to become a Fixit Coach yourself.)

3. Pop-Up Playground Concert for the Climate

with Arlington Mothers Out Front and Tardigrade Stage musicians

for famlies with kids and kids at heart

Sunday, July 14, 3:30-4:30 pm

at Thompson School picnic area, North Union St., East Arlington

free

Bring a picnic, enjoy a free concert and face painting, and learn about actions to take to support a livable climate.
